The conference will be attended by government officials involved in consumer protection, researchers, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, business associations and consumer protection organizations.
A press release from the ASEAN Secretariat quoted by the Vietnam News Agency in Jakarta stated that the growing online consumer market brings significant benefits to the economy and consumers, but also poses more and more challenges.
In that context, ASEAN organized the first consumer protection conference to address these challenges.
The conference is scheduled to discuss current issues and challenges related to financial transactions, consumer product safety, e-commerce and the development of consumer compensation mechanisms.
This will be an opportunity for experts and stakeholders to exchange experiences on consumer protection and identify future consumption directions, as well as challenges for consumption in the region.
The conference was jointly organized by ASEAN and the Vietnam Competition Authority within the framework of the project “Supporting Research and Dialogue on Consumer Protection,” under the auspices of the ASEAN Consumer Protection Committee and funded by the ASEAN-Australia Development Cooperation Program Phase II./.
