Vietnam wins big at the 3rd International Puppetry Festival
After 7 exciting days, Vietnam has become a typical face for awards at the 3rd International Puppetry Festival.
19 puppet shows, including 8 shows by Vietnamese Puppetry Troupes and 11 shows by international puppetry troupes from 10 different countries, have truly made the 3rd International Puppetry Festival a colorful international cultural event.

While the creative artistic successes of international troupes are based on adherence to the typical principles of traditional puppetry genres, Vietnamese troupes proactively create freely.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Head of the jury shared: "The International Puppetry Festival is an opportunity for us to understand more about people, about the spiritual and cultural values of each region, each different national territory so that we can understand each other better and get closer together,...".

The Golden Prize for Performances was awarded to 3 works, with 2 Vietnamese works: “Memory Melody” – Hai Phong Puppetry Art Troupe, Vietnam; “Sacred Two Words of Compatriots” – Thang Long Puppetry Theatre and the third work went to Indonesia with “The Death of Rahwana” – Wayang Golek Ajen Theatre.
The Silver Award honors the winning entries of 3 Vietnamese works: “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” and “White Space” – Vietnam Puppetry Theatre; “Net Hong Lam” – Ha Tinh Song and Dance Troupe, Vietnam and the last work of the Silver Award went to “The Random Hakka Marriage” – Shan Puppetry Theatre – Taiwan (China).
14 is the number of Gold Awards for the best actors. With 10 Gold Awards for actors, Vietnam became the only country to reap many awards at the 3rd International Puppetry Festival - 2012 in Hanoi.
“Melody of Memory” - Hai Phong Puppetry Troupe was honored with the award for the group of actors controlling the puppets Mo 1, 2 and Hoi Lang puppets in the performance with Artist Hai Phuong in the role of the girl playing the violin.

“Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” – Vietnam Puppetry Theatre with awards in the best actor group directing the dance troupe of dancers with actor Minh Toan as Aladdin, Meritorious Artist Thu Dung- actress Thu Hang as the princess, actor Huu Hiep- Van Chau as the Witch Zapha and the actor playing the role of the Water Seal in the performance “White Space”.
“The sacredness of the two words compatriots” - Thang Long Puppetry Theater won the Gold Award with the puppeteering group Labor Production, Combat and the puppeteering group Cham Dance in the performance.
12 out of 21 Silver Awards for actors belong to Vietnam.
“Memory Melody” - Hai Phong Puppetry Troupe won the first Silver Award for actors with the puppet group Violin and puppet group Market Country group in the performance.
“Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” – Vietnam Puppetry Theatre – Silver award for actors went to actor Ngoc Triu as the King and actor Hong Phong as the Genie with the group of actors as Penguins, Seals and Penguins in “White Space”.
“The Mystery of 2/3”, “A Thousand Golds Unchangeable” and “The Sacred Two Voices of Compatriots” - Thang Long Puppetry Theatre won the Silver Prize with the group of actors controlling the Muc Dance puppets; Meritorious Artist Y Ban - Thu Huyen with the role of Ho Nguyet Co and the group of actors controlling the Fan Dance puppets.
“Net Hong Lam” - Ha Tinh Song and Dance Troupe honored with a group of puppeteers in the performance.
“Colors of the Central Highlands” - Puppetry Art Troupe - Dak Lak Province Cultural Information Center honored the group of actors who controlled the puppets to dance with feet and the puppets to dance with gongs in the performance.

Excellent musician - Musician Phu Quang with the performance "Memory Melody" - Hai Phong Puppetry Troupe.
And the final award for Outstanding Author went to the performance “Garbage Monster” - Kukla Puppet Theater Istanbul, Türkiye.
The 4th International Puppetry Festival will be held in 2014./.
