From September 10 to 14, the Conference of Writers of the Three Indochina Countries (Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia) and the 4th Mekong River Literature Award Ceremony took place at the Furama Hotel in Da Nang. This is the second time Vietnam has hosted the annual conference, which is held alternately between the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Nearly 100 writers representing the three Indochinese countries attended the conference. In addition, this year the association also invited several countries as observers such as Thailand, China, Myanmar, and the Vietnam-India Writers' Friendship Association. Through this event, it aims to strengthen solidarity, friendship, and connection between writers living, working, and creating together on the Indochina peninsula. At the same time, the three nations can develop their economies together as well as firmly protect the borders of the three countries.

The Indochina Literature Conference was initiated by the Vietnam Writers Association. The first conference marked the birth of the Mekong Literature Award, which is held annually, alternately in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia to promote close cooperation and literary development of the three countries. The 4th Mekong Literature Award 2012 will take place at the conference this morning, September 11.
