Among the weapon models that appeared at the training launch ceremony at the beginning of the year, the most surprising was the unmanned reconnaissance aircraft (UAV) that looked exactly like the RQ-11 Raven made in the US. Photo: Border Guard Newspaper |

Although quite similar, the details on the body of the UAV of the Vietnam Border Guard still have differences in design, especially the body of the aircraft, besides it also has an antenna, a detail that the RQ-11 does not have. |

Currently, information about this UAV has not been revealed, but we can hope that this is a domestically produced UAV based on the American Raven prototype. |

If so, we are in possession of extremely advanced reconnaissance UAVs because according to information revealed by the US, the new observation cluster on the RQ-11 Raven includes a high-resolution infrared aircraft and a laser guidance device capable of wide-angle observation. |

The RQ-11 Raven is equipped with one color daytime camera or two infrared night vision cameras. The cameras transmit real-time video to the operator controlling the Raven via a handheld controller. The camera screens are shielded from direct sunlight. |

One convenient point is that soldiers can disassemble Raven into separate parts and store it neatly in their backpacks. Its weight is also very light, only about 1.9 kg. |

Despite its modest size, the RQ-11 can reach a ceiling of about 10 km from the ground and about 4.6 km above sea level. The RQ-11 Raven can fly at speeds of up to 97 km/h, but usually operates at a patrol speed of 40-50 km/h. |

In the US, the RQ-11 Raven's shell is made from Kevlar, the same material used in helmets and protective vests for soldiers. Thanks to the Raven UAV with its panoramic view of the battlefield, military units can move more quickly and safely. (Dan Nguyen) |
