Regarding the relationship between the two countries, the two armies of Vietnam and China as well as the situation in the East Sea, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh emphasized that building strategic trust in the defense relationship between the two countries will foster strategic trust between the two Parties, two States and people of Vietnam and China.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh also proposed important directions for cooperation between the two armies in the coming time: advising the two Parties and two States; persistently resolving disputes through peaceful negotiations and friendly consultations, starting from the "strategic height" and "big picture" in bilateral relations; the two armies need to create a peaceful environment in the East Sea, maintain the status quo, reduce presence in sensitive areas, and avoid actions that could cause misunderstandings; the two armies do not use force or threaten to use force, and study and sign an agreement on non-use of force and non-threat of use of force at sea between the two armies.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh proposed expanding cooperation areas, especially naval cooperation, thoroughly implementing the spirit of humane treatment of fishermen working peacefully at sea; strengthening cooperation through hotlines between the two countries' naval commanders, and promoting propaganda among the people about the friendship between the two countries' armies and peoples.
The two sides signed an agreement to build a direct telephone line between the two countries' Defense Ministries.
Earlier in the morning, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and the Vietnamese defense delegation visited the peacekeeping center of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense./.
