Vietnam and Cambodia aim for 5 billion USD turnover

On the afternoon of January 13, at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to discuss measures to further promote cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.

Prime Minister Hun Sen warmly welcomed Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation to visit the Kingdom of Cambodia; he believed that Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung's visit to Cambodia would continue to create strong momentum to promote the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries to a new height.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung congratulated the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) on the victory in the recent 5th National Assembly election and congratulated Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his re-appointment as the new Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also congratulated the great and comprehensive achievements that the Cambodian people under the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia headed by Prime Minister Hun Sen have achieved over the past 35 years since Cambodia overthrew the genocidal regime (January 7, 1979).

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung believes that under the leadership of the new National Assembly and Government, the Cambodian people will continue to gain greater and more comprehensive achievements in the cause of building a prosperous Cambodia with an increasingly high role and position in the region and the world.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated Cambodia's sending of a high-ranking delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin to attend the 35th anniversary of the victory in the southwestern border defense war and the joint victory of the Cambodian army and people over the genocidal regime (January 7, 1979 - January 7, 2014) in Hanoi, making an important contribution to preserving and fostering the solidarity, friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the people of the two countries.

Thereby affirming the brilliant righteous cause of the Cambodian army and people together with the Vietnamese army and people in overthrowing the brutal genocidal regime in Cambodia, leading to the historic victory on January 7, 1979.

At the meeting, both sides were delighted that cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, defense, security, economy, culture and society has been continuously strengthened in recent times; economic, trade and investment cooperation has had positive developments.

That result has contributed significantly to further deepening the relationship between the two countries as well as the common development of each country.

The two prime ministers affirmed to continue creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest long-term and effectively in Cambodia, and expressed their determination to strive to increase two-way trade turnover to 5 billion USD by 2015...

Previously, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received a number of leading Vietnamese enterprises investing in Cambodia.
