Vietnam and Cambodia survey the site of the border clash

Pursuant to the agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, on July 16, the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Working Group visited the area between border markers 202-203 in Binh Bac Hamlet, Binh Hoa Tay Commune, Moc Hoa District, Long An Province, Vietnam, where the violence caused by some Cambodian extremists occurred on June 28.

The Vietnamese Working Group is headed by Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung, Deputy Head of the National Border Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Cambodian Working Group was led by Mr. Long Visalo, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Head of the Cambodian Investigation Committee.

At the scene, both sides inspected and clarified the location of the clash, listened to the opinions of witnesses from both sides and determined the cause of the incident.

The Cambodian working group expressed condolences and hoped to receive sympathy from the injured Vietnamese people.

After completing the field work, the two sides held talks in Svay Rieng province, Cambodia and agreed to resolutely not let similar incidents happen again, while affirming their respect for the signed Treaties and Agreements and the Joint Press Release signed on January 17, 1995./.
