Vietnam and France meet to discuss defense cooperation
On January 9, 2013, in Hanoi, the 3rd meeting of the Vietnam-France Joint Committee on Defense Cooperation was held. Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of Defense of Vietnam and Senior Lieutenant General Gratien Maire, Deputy Chief of the French Joint Staff, co-chaired.
At the meeting, all sides highly appreciated the effective cooperation in many fields between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the French Ministry of National Defense in recent times. In particular, the exchange of delegations at all levels, cooperation in training cadres, and cooperation in the field of defense science and technology have had positive changes...
During the plenary session and each subcommittee meeting, the two sides proposed directions for effective cooperation in areas such as: ensuring maritime security; patrolling and monitoring state activities at sea; cooperation in training science and technology, air force, navy, army and military medicine staff; cooperation in the defense industry, etc.
Besides, the two sides discussed a number of issues related to the world and regional situation, affecting world security and peace that Vietnam and France are both interested in.
At the end of the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Senior Lieutenant General Gratien Maire signed the minutes of the 3rd meeting of the Vietnam-France Joint Committee on Defense Cooperation in 2013.
During the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Gratien Maire and the delegation paid a courtesy call to General Phung Quang Thanh, Minister of National Defense; visited the Navy Command and Division 308, Corps 1./.
