In an interview with Itar-Tass news agency before Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Vietnam from April 5 to 7, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed that military technical cooperation along with energy are the pillars of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in the new period.
In the field of military technology, Russia is currently an important partner of Vietnam. Vietnam-Russia cooperation in the field of defense and security contributes practically to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in the region and the world.
In the energy sector, Vietnam and Russia can expand cooperation to new areas such as petrochemical processing and refining, fuel production for gas engines and Russia's long-term supply of crude oil to Vietnam. Joint ventures such as Vietsovpetro, Rusvietpetro, Gazpromviet, Vietgazprom operate effectively on the continental shelf of Vietnam and Russian territory, expanding exploration and exploitation at new mines. The two sides are closely coordinating to implement the Ninh Thuan I Nuclear Power Plant project with the motto of meeting the requirements of ensuring security, safety, highest efficiency and strictly complying with Vietnamese laws on investment and construction.
