At the dialogue, along with exchanging views on the world and regional situation, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Mr. Hironori Kanazawa both agreed that the relationship between Vietnam and Japan has recently entered a new stage of development, deepening in all areas, in which defense cooperation continues to develop positively, in line with the strategic partnership agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders.

In particular, through the exchange of delegations at all levels, the two countries have built trust and mutual understanding, creating new momentum to develop an increasingly effective and practical defense cooperation relationship.

Regarding cooperation directions, the two sides agreed on many measures to strengthen and promote bilateral defense cooperation in the fields of delegation exchanges, training, experience exchange in participating in peacekeeping forces, bomb and mine clearance, naval medicine, cooperation between research institutes and dealing with non-traditional security issues, etc.

With a frank and open spirit, the dialogue also reached a common understanding that the two sides actively participated, consulted, and supported each other at multilateral forums such as ADMM+ and ARF, resolved disputes over sovereignty of seas and islands by peaceful means, on the basis of respect for international law; actively built a roadmap, dialogue mechanism, and methods for implementing initiatives, areas of cooperation, and bilateral defense exchanges that the two countries' defense ministers signed in October 2011, contributing to deepening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

On the same day, Mr. Hironori Kanazawa and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to General Phung Quang Thanh, Minister of National Defense of Vietnam. General Phung Quang Thanh cordially received Japanese Deputy Minister of Defense Hironori Kanazawa and his delegation.

During the working visit to Vietnam, Mr. Hironori Kanazawa and his delegation will visit the B.61 Air Defense Division (Air Defense - Air Force); visit the Vietnam Military History Museum and lay wreaths, and visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum./.
