Vietnam and China reaffirm commitment not to complicate the situation in the East Sea.

Deputy Prime Minister Phuc is on an official visit to China and attending the China-ASEAN Expo and the 12th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan PhucPhuc and Mr. Truong Cao Le yesterday agreed that the two countries should maintain peace and stability in the East Sea to contribute to preserving the stability and development of the region, in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two leaders also agreed to soon complete internal procedures to sign the Agreement on vessel navigation in the free navigation zone at the mouth of the Bac Luan River and the Agreement on cooperation in exploiting and protecting tourism resources in the Ban Gioc waterfall area this year. Vietnam and China will jointly create favorable conditions to promote cooperation and economic development in the land border area.
Mr. Truong said China attaches importance to its relationship with Vietnam and hopes that the two sides will maintain high-level contacts, enhance political trust, and jointly promote the stable and healthy development of the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Deputy Prime Minister Phuc asked China to create conditions for businesses to increase imports of Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products, including rice, and to coordinate to resolve difficulties in cooperation projects being implemented in Vietnam.
After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents, including the Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement on the provision of non-refundable aid between Vietnam and China and the Minutes of the First Meeting of the Working Group on Monetary Cooperation between the State Bank of Vietnam and the People's Bank of China.
Mr. Phuc will visit China until September 19.
