Viettel, AVG, VTVcab must stop broadcasting TV without permission

The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) has just sent an official dispatch to the Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel), Vietnam Cable Television Corporation (VTVCab) and Global Audiovisual Corporation regarding the suspension of broadcasting unlicensed television channels.

Specifically, on Viettel's IPTV pay TV service system, foreign TV channels are broadcast including True Tennis HD, Golf HD and broadcast program channels named: Folk - VOD test, Keeng - VOD test, Feature Film - VOD test, Animation - VOD test.

On VTVCab and AVG's television service system, there are channels such as True sport HD, OPT1; Golf HD program channel (on VTVCab's service system) and Russia Today program channel (on AVG's service system).

The authorities determined that the above-mentioned channels are television program channels that have not been licensed, edited or licensed for production by the state press management agency and have not been certified by Viettel, VTVCab, AVG to provide on the pay television service system.

These are serious violations of the provisions of the law on the press. Accordingly, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information requires the above units to immediately stop broadcasting the above channels; report the broadcasting of the above channels (including the signal source, the channel content provider, and the channel broadcasting copyright) to the management agency.
