Viettel urgently responds to storm Wipha, ready to ensure communication for people

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 3 (storm Wipha), Viettel Telecom Corporation (Viettel Telecom) has quickly activated natural disaster prevention and control plans, synchronously deployed infrastructure protection solutions, and ensured the maintenance of uninterrupted services, in order to maintain information connection for people during and after the storm.

Totalforce to implement measures to prevent and combat natural disasters

In localities directly affected by the storm, Viettel Telecom has activated emergency response plans, including: Reinforcing telecommunications infrastructure, checking the broadcasting station system; Preparing supplies, backup power sources and organizing 24/7 response; Mobilizing 150 technical teams ready to support affected provinces; Increasing the number of customer service staff via switchboard to 1.5 times the normal number.

Proactively warn and support customers

Viettel Telecom has sent warning messages to 2.5 million customers in affected areas, instructing them on how to turn off electronic devices such as modems and TV receivers to ensure safety.

At the same time, the Corporation has also prepared nearly 6,000 km of backup fiber optic cables, 237 free battery charging points and mobile sales teams to ensure quick service recovery after the storm.

TImplementing policies to support people before storm Wipha makes landfall

As of the afternoon of July 20, Viettel Telecom has issued a policy to support nearly 4 million customers in areas where typhoon Wipha is forecast to make landfall. Specifically, it is promoting card top-ups with free data credits, and introducing suitable preferential packages to support customers in maintaining smooth connections.
