Viettel partners with Dortmund to build football academy
The negotiations went smoothly, Viettel and Dortmund are preparing to sign a contract to jointly build a football academy in Vietnam.
“Dortmund has agreed to cooperate with Viettel. We chose a partner from Germany because we want to train youth properly. Currently, Viettel has built the most modern youth training center in Hoa Lac” - Major General Hoang Cong Vinh, Deputy General Director of Viettel said.
Viettel is currently training the U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19 teams. The U19 Viettel team is participating in the 2015 National Second Division and the goal is to win the right to play in the First Division. According to Viettel's plan, in 3 years this unit will have a team competing in the V-League. However, it is worth noting that Viettel will not revive the name The Cong.
Major General Hoang Cong Vinh revealed Viettel's plan for 2018, aiming to participate in V.League.
“It is not easy to revive The Cong. The Cong is an Army team, so it cannot have foreign players. Meanwhile, in the Vietnamese professional arena, without Western players, it is difficult to compete for achievements” - Major General Hoang Cong Vinh analyzed.
Meanwhile, former national player Nguyen Hong Son, who is in charge of the Viettel Football Center's training department, shared: "Currently, most of the youth training staff at Viettel Football Center are former The Cong players. I myself have also refused to accept the invitation to coach the V-League from Hanoi ACB and V. Ninh Binh to stick with youth training.
Viettel has invested in modern facilities at the new Training Center in Thach That (Hanoi).

Recently, Viettel refused to sell national U19 player Bui Tien Dung to HA.GL, the reason is also because they want to keep the best players for the plan to play in V-League in 3 years.
