Quang Tri province is known as the fiercest battlefield and the place where thousands of patriotic scholars, communist soldiers and innocent people were imprisoned during the two resistance wars against the French and the Americans to save the country. This heroic homeland is a land heavily affected by war, so malnutrition and the rate of underweight and stunted children are quite high, especially in mountainous districts where ethnic minorities live. That is the reason why the Vietnam Grow Tall Milk Fund program in 2014 came to poor children in Quang Tri, especially children of war invalids and martyrs, to show gratitude to those who died for the homeland.

At the program, 72,270 glasses of milk were presented to 800 students of Quang Tri province by Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan - Politburo member, Vice President of the National Assembly, Ms. Pham Thi Hai Chuyen - Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and representatives of provincial leaders, Vietnam Children's Fund and Vinamilk leaders. In 2014, despite many economic difficulties, the Vietnam Grow Up Milk Fund continued its mission, giving disadvantaged children a quantity of milk worth 8 billion VND, an increase of 33% in value compared to 2013. All of this milk will be transferred directly by the Vietnam Children's Fund and Vinamilk to orphanage centers, social protection centers, preschool and primary school students in remote areas in 63 provinces and cities across the country for children to use continuously for 3 months. Thus, up to now, the total amount of milk that the Milk Fund has brought to more than 307 thousand disadvantaged children in Vietnam is nearly 22 million glasses of milk, equivalent to about 83 billion VND.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Children's Fund under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs also donated 1.6 billion VND to disadvantaged children and policy families in Quang Tri province in 2014. And the Vietnam News Agency's trade union mobilized officials, civil servants and employees of VNA to contribute 50 million VND to children of officials, soldiers and fishermen of Quang Tri province who are on duty to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands.

Also at the program, the students had the opportunity to meet, chat and play fun games with the program's Ambassadors, Comedian Xuan Bac and Comedian Tu Long. Previously, in 2014, Vinamilk organized a ceremony to give milk directly to poor children in Co To island district (Quang Ninh), Ba Tri district (Ben Tre). With sweet glasses of milk from kindness, the Vietnam Grow Up Milk Fund not only wishes to contribute to improving nutritional conditions, maximizing the physical and intellectual potential of Vietnamese children, but also wants to raise awareness and concern of the whole society for the development of children, the future owners of the country.

The Vietnam Stand Tall Milk Fund was established in 2008, under the chairmanship of the BTTEVN Fund - Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with Vinamilk. The Vietnam Stand Tall Milk Fund was established with the aim of reaching disadvantaged children across the country, with a seemingly simple but extremely practical action - giving them nutritious glasses of milk to help them have the opportunity to develop more comprehensively in terms of physical and mental health for a brighter future.

Assessing the impact of this Program, Ms. Pham Thi Hai Chuyen - Member of the Party Central Committee - Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs commented: “Currently, in Vietnam, there are still many children in difficult circumstances, who have not received adequate nutritional care, rarely drink milk or do not even know what milk is, leading to many limitations in their physical and intellectual development. Therefore, the perseverance of the Vietnam Grow Up Milk Fund journey contains many profound humanistic meanings. The 6-year journey of the Milk Fund has contributed to bringing hundreds of thousands of children the opportunity to drink milk more regularly to improve their physical and intellectual condition. Therefore, I highly appreciate Vinamilk's sense of responsibility for the community and the companionship of the Children's Protection Fund with the Vietnam Grow Up Milk Fund program and hope that the program will continue to be implemented for many years to come.”

As the sole sponsor of the "Vietnam Rising" Milk Fund program for 6 consecutive years, Ms. Bui Thi Huong - Director of External Relations of Vinamilk shared: "Children in Quang Tri Province still face many difficulties in life because of the lack of material conditions, however, they still overcome difficulties to rise up, which is something that deserves the attention of society. Therefore, through the Vietnam Rising Milk Fund, with a high sense of responsibility towards the community, Vinamilk wishes to contribute to improving the nutritional conditions for children. This shows Vinamilk's commitment to generations of Vietnamese people, especially Vietnamese children, with the desire that "Every Vietnamese child drinks milk every day", contributing to creating conditions to maximize the potential of Vietnamese children in both physical and intellectual aspects, for a Vietnam that always rises. Besides, it also shows that Vietnam needs to have a national program on school milk to create conditions for children to develop comprehensively, contributing to creating good human resources. for the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

Before coming to poor children in Quang Tri, on July 18, Vinamilk also gave 71,550 glasses of milk to poor children in Nghe An through the provincial Children's Support Fund.
