Vinamilk plants 100,000 trees at Na Tu National Historical Site, Bac Kan
(Baonghean.vn) - On August 2, in Bac Kan province, the "1 million trees for Vietnam" Fund program, implemented by Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, held a tree planting ceremony at the Na Tu National Historical Site, Bac Kan.
The program was attended by comrades: Truong Thi Mai - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; Vo Tuan Nhan - Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; Nguyen Van Du - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Kan province and Ms. Bui Thi Huong - Executive Director of Vinamilk.
The Na Tu National Historical Site in particular and Bac Kan province in general is a land rich in revolutionary and cultural traditions of the country. During the resistance war against the French, our army and people achieved resounding victories, which went down in the heroic history of the nation, such as the Viet Bac campaign in the fall and winter of 1947.
Na Tu National Historical Site is also the place where the Youth Volunteer Corps was stationed in the past and where Uncle Ho visited the 312th Youth Volunteer Corps in 1951. This is also the home of 7 ethnic groups (Tay, Nung, Kinh, Dao, Mong, Hoa and San Chay), of which ethnic minorities account for 80%.Currently, Bac Kan is a province with rich tourism potential due to its rich resources, minerals and culture imbued with the ethnic identity of the Northeastern mountainous region of Vietnam. With the special historical significance of this land, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2018) and to continue the spirit as well as learn the lifestyle of loving nature and being close to nature of Uncle Ho, the Fund "1 million trees for Vietnam" with the spirit of "drinking water, remembering the source" has planted 100,000 trees of various types such as magnolia, dracontomelon, acacia mangium, lat hoa, ... worth about 930 million VND to show gratitude and gratitude to the heroic land and contribute to the construction of the landscape, helping the locality increase the area of green trees and prevent natural disasters, respond to climate change.
The "1 Million Trees for Vietnam" Fund Program is a community activity initiated by Vinamilk in collaboration with the General Department of Environment (VEA) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment since 2012 with the aim of planting more trees in localities across the country to improve the living environment for Vietnamese people. The program focuses on areas where trees bring practical benefits to the country and the community such as: planting trees to protect mangrove forests, expanding the coastline, restoring coastal forests to contribute to improving, protecting the environment and adapting to climate change, providing more green space for residential areas, memorial areas, relic sites, public areas, schools, etc.
In addition to 100,000 trees from the program "1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund" donated to Bac Kan province, on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Vinamilk also donated 20 gifts to families of martyrs, war invalids, former youth volunteers, and people with revolutionary contributions in Bac Kan province.
Entering the 6th year of the journey to bring green across the length of the country, Vinamilk and the "1 million trees for Vietnam" Fund have brought the total number of trees planted in more than 20 provinces and cities in Vietnam to 680 thousand trees of all kinds with a value of nearly 9 billion VND and are gradually getting closer to the goal of 1 million trees for Vietnam.
In the near future, the "1 million trees for Vietnam" Fund will continue to bring more trees to more provinces and cities across the country to bring green space and a clean living environment to all Vietnamese people.
