Vinamilk supports planting 40,000 trees on Doc Lap hill (Dien Bien province)

(Baonghean.vn) - On July 31, 2014, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (1954 - 2014), with the traditional morality of "remembering the source when drinking water", "repaying gratitude" and to continue the journey of planting trees for a green, clean and beautiful Vietnam, the program "1 million trees for Vietnam Fund" launched by the General Department of Environment under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company Vinamilk coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Bien province to plant trees at Doc Lap Hill relic site, Dien Bien province - a place that preserves the historical value of the great resistance war of the nation.

The program was attended by Mr. Nguyen Hanh Phuc - Member of the Party Central Committee - Chairman of the National Assembly Office; Mr. Pham The Bao - Deputy Head of the Department of Emulation and Commendation - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Lo Van Tien - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, Ms. Bui Thi Huong - Director of External Relations of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company - Vinamilk and representatives of leaders of Ministries, Departments, central and local authorities. Immediately after the ceremony, delegates, people and hundreds of Youth Union members participated in planting 40,000 trees at Doc Lap Hill and some other places in Dien Bien province.

The 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund Program is a joint activity between the General Department of Environment (VEA) and Vinamilk Joint Stock Company with the aim of planting more trees in provinces and cities, improving the living environment for Vietnamese people. The program is expanded to areas where trees bring practical benefits to the community such as: residential areas, public areas, central roads, schools... in provinces and cities nationwide. In 2012 and 2013, the 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund Program organized tree planting in 10 provinces and cities nationwide with a total of nearly 100,000 trees of all kinds. In 2014, the 1 Million Trees Fund Program will continue its tree planting journey and carry out tree planting throughout the country with an estimated 120,000 - 150,000 trees of all kinds. In 2014, the total amount of money Vinamilk contributed to the 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund was about 1.5 billion VND.

Following Dien Bien province, the 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund will continue to plant trees in many other cities across the country, expanding to areas where trees bring practical benefits to the community.

Mr. Tran Phong, Director of the Center for Environmental Training and Communication - General Department of Environment, representative of the Executive Board of the 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund Program, shared: “The 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund Program is a cooperative activity to realize the policy of socializing environmental protection work, especially promoting the planting, management and protection of trees to improve air quality in urban areas, both implementing the major policy of the Party and the State and supporting localities to promote the socialization of tree planting. Our goal when organizing events like this tree planting ceremony is to inspire and encourage the community to come up with more initiatives and pay more practical attention to trees and tree planting in cities across the country.”

Representing the initiator of the 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund Program, Ms. Bui Thi Huong - Director of External Relations, Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company - Vinamilk shared: "Along with other community programs of Vinamilk such as the Vietnam Milk Fund, Vinamilk Company implements the 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund program with the desire to join hands with the social community to improve the surrounding living environment, for ourselves and future generations. Up to now, the Fund has planted trees in 10 provinces and cities across the country and today in Dien Bien. To develop the density of trees as the set goal, Vinamilk will carry out the program continuously for many years in provinces and cities of Vietnam according to the proposed tree planting needs of each locality. With the long-term significance and importance of the program, Vinamilk hopes to receive the attention of Ministries, Departments, central and local governments, press agencies and especially consumers nationwide throughout the Fund's journey this year and the following years. for a green, clean and beautiful Vietnam".
