Vinh, Dien Chau, Cua Lo are leading at the Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival

That is the information on the medal tally as of April 19 given at the working session of Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 8th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival with departments, branches and sectors on the morning of April 19.

The 8th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival 2018 took place from February 24 to May 15, 2018, with 18 competitions with the participation of 21 districts, cities, towns and departments, branches and sectors in the province.

Up to now, the Congress has organized 12 competitions in districts, cities and towns: Vovinam, volleyball, cross-country, wrestling, table tennis, football, petanque, karate, beach volleyball, pole pushing and sepak takraw.

The remaining 6 events are swimming, shuttlecock kicking, tug of war, athletics, chess and badminton will be held in Vinh City (after the opening ceremony of the Congress taking place on the evening of May 11, 2018 at Vinh Stadium).

In the 12 events that were competed, the Organizing Committee of the Games awarded 106 sets of medals. As of April 19, 3 localities, Vinh city (18 gold medals), Dien Chau (11 gold medals), Cua Lo town (8 gold medals, 10 silver medals) are leading the overall rankings. In the mountainous district block, Tuong Duong, Thanh Chuong, and Que Phong districts are leading.

At the meeting, representatives of the Department of Culture and Sports reported on the progress of the Congress and the opening ceremony scenario. Members of the Organizing Committee and related departments reported on the implementation of tasks and made recommendations and proposals for the Congress to be successful.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Le Minh Thong stated: The Congress is a festival for all people to promote and further improve the quality of the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", contributing to enriching and diversifying the activities of the movement of all people uniting to build a cultural life.

The Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival at the grassroots level in 480 communes, wards, towns and 21 districts, cities and towns, which took place from February 2017, was a great success. In order for the Provincial Congress to achieve high results, comrade Le Minh Thong requested the members of the organizing committee and related departments, branches and sectors to uphold their responsibilities, base on the scenario and assignment plan to perform their tasks well./.
