WHO has determined that the A/H7N9 influenza virus is not capable of being transmitted easily from person to person and there is no evidence of international spread of this influenza virus in humans or poultry. However, WHO recommends continuing to strengthen epidemiological surveillance and virus surveillance, including close monitoring of cases of severe acute respiratory infections of unknown cause, unusual respiratory illnesses and timely reporting of suspected cases for handling.
