The scandal at Vissai Ninh Binh, involving half of the Ninh Binh team, forced manager Hoang Manh Truong to announce his suspension from tournaments. Many U23 national players and members of the Vietnam national team were summoned by the police. Vice-captain of the Vietnam U23 team, Tran Manh Dung, was the mastermind.
Exactly 4 days after the scandal was exposed, Chairman Pham Van Le of Hoang Phat Sports Limited Company, the parent company of Vissai Ninh Binh, signed Official Letter No. 65 dated April 14, 2014. The letter confirmed that Ninh Binh would not participate in V-League 2014 but would still compete in the AFC Cup.
Thus, V-League 2014 has officially lost its first representative. The tournament will only have 12 participating teams. All competition results of Ninh Binh with other clubs will be erased, the situation of V-League will change from here.
Vissai Ninh Binh returns to training, Van Thang and Danh Ngoc are called up
According to news from Ninh Binh, the team resumed training this morning. Coach Nguyen Van Sy called the players back to the club yesterday and began training this morning. The training session took place in the gym, away from the attention of the press.
The most notable detail in the training session was the appearance of Hoang Danh Ngoc and Le Van Thang. These are the two players named in the scandal. However, they did not directly participate in the betting, but only received money. Van Thang was given 20 million VND, while Danh Ngoc threatened to report the betting, so he was given 50 million VND.
