VNPT installs 10,000 more 3G stations, covering all of Vietnam

VNPT's General Director said that they are implementing a plan to "lightning-fast" coverage for the VinaPhone network, including installing 3G stations and investing in fiber optic networks.

According to Mr. Tran Manh Hung, General Director of VNPT, VinaPhone mobile coverage speed is being implemented as quickly as possible, the result is completed in 3 weeks equivalent to 2 years of implementation before. From June to October, this unit will install 10,000 more 3G stations and increase coverage across Vietnam, while upgrading the fiber optic network to increase competitiveness with rivals.

In addition to the mobile subscriber sector, VNPT aims to restructure to develop many fields equally, including telecommunications and information technology (IT). Mr. Tran Manh Hung said that VNPT needs to shift from providing pure telecommunications services to integrated telecommunications and IT services, to serve individual customers, businesses and the government sector. This strategy is put forward in the context that traditional telecommunications services are facing strong competition from voice and Internet messaging services and the trend of convergence of telecommunications and IT services.
