Police believe the case was a homicide but are not looking for any suspects beyond the two victims. The billionaire couple’s children disagree with that preliminary conclusion.

Canadian police have just announced the cause of death of billionaire couple Barry Sherman and Mrs. Honey, but the preliminary conclusion of the case only adds more mystery to this shocking case.
Apotex pharmaceutical company founder Barry Sherman, 75, and his wife Honey Sherman, 70, were found dead at their North York home on December 15.
Toronto police considered the incident "suspicious" and requested homicide investigators to investigate, according to information from CBC News (Canada) on December 18.
In a statement released on December 17 (local time), Toronto police said both victims died of "asphyxiation by ligature", meaning they were strangled to death.
However, puzzlingly, investigators have said they will not be looking for any other suspects in the case, according to Sky News.
A police source previously told CBC News that someone outside the Sherman family discovered the couple's bodies, but police have not revealed much about the investigation.
The Globe and Mail, citing a source familiar with the matter, said the person who discovered the body was a real estate agent who was arranging to sell the Shermans’ house. The Globe and Mail said there was no sign of forced entry and no note or suicide note was left at the scene.
Despite the police's "secretiveness", many news agencies quoted police sources as saying that the case is being investigated as a "murder-suicide", meaning one of the two people took the other's life before killing himself.
However, in a statement released on December 16, the Sherman family affirmed that "our parents lived passionately and were always focused on family and community, which is completely contrary to the unfortunate rumors on social media surrounding their deaths."
The Sherman family also criticized police sources for being "irresponsible" for misinforming the media. "(The murder-suicide theory) is something that no one in the family, friends or colleagues (of our parents) believes is true," the statement said.

The victims' families have therefore asked the police to conduct a "comprehensive, thorough and objective" criminal investigation into their parents' deaths.
Homicide detective David Hopkinson told Sky News that "there are a number of suspicious circumstances and we are treating the case as such".
According to The Star (Canada), Mr. Sherman is one of the richest people in Canada. The billionaire couple Sherman has donated millions of dollars to many charitable organizations. The social work department of the Apotex Company has also transported millions of dollars worth of medicine to support crisis areas.
