Young martial artist Phan Tuan Anh and his journey to conquer a series of National Jujitsu Gold Medals
Having pursued Wrestling for 2 years but not leaving much of an impression, Phan Tuan Anh - a martial artist born in 2006, bravely chose a new direction with Jujitsu. From that courageous change, the Nghe An boy has grown strongly, continuously winning many Gold and Silver medals at national and regional tournaments.
Breakthroughs
Tall stature, flexible reflexes and calm fighting style are the first impressions when witnessing Tuan Anh competing on the Jujitsu mat.
Born in Thanh Lien, Thanh Chuong district (now Lien Duc commune, Nghe An province), Tuan Anh was inspired by sports early on by his older sister, a volleyball player who used to compete prominently in the locality. From then on, Tuan Anh's love for sports grew like a smoldering but fierce flame.

The opportunity came to Tuan Anh when he caught the eye of coach Doan Xuan Luyen at Nghe An Sports Training and Competition Center. Realizing that this teenager had good physical qualities, endurance and quick reflexes, coach Luyen created conditions for Tuan Anh to officially enter the professional coaching path from grade 7, when he was only 13 years old.
Initially, Tuan Anh was oriented towards Wrestling. However, his achievements in this subject were not really outstanding. The opportunity came when Jujitsu was included in the training program at the center. Right from the first days of getting acquainted, Tuan Anh showed his quick adaptation, good technique and sharp sense of confrontation.

In 2022, after a short time of switching to Jujitsu training, Tuan Anh was selected to participate in the National Sports Festival. Although the tournament had the participation of hundreds of martial artists from provinces and cities, Tuan Anh still demonstrated a steadfast competitive spirit and won the Bronze Medal. This was a major turning point, marking Tuan Anh's transformation from an obscure athlete in Wrestling to a notable face in the national youth Jujitsu community.
Continuing his success, in 2023, Tuan Anh won the Gold Medal at the National Jujitsu Youth Championship with convincing performance, proactive fighting style and good control of the match. The outstanding strength of this young fighter is the Fighting content - direct confrontation between 2 fighters. In which, chokeholds require skill, strength and reflex speed, which are Tuan Anh's powerful "weapons".

A memorable match was at the 2024 National Jujitsu Club Championship. When his opponent, who had won many medals, lifted him off the mat, Tuan Anh hit the floor hard and was almost eliminated. However, he quickly calmed down, stood up, fought hard and successfully turned the tables. That strong spirit made many witnesses admire him.
The year 2024 marked the "acceleration" period for Tuan Anh when he consecutively won 2 Gold Medals at the National Jujitsu Club Championship and the National Jujitsu Championship. This achievement put Tuan Anh in the group of top promising young athletes of the sport nationwide.

Grown up through hardship
Coach Doan Xuan Luyen - who has accompanied Tuan Anh for more than 6 years - always highly appreciates his student's seriousness, perseverance and spirit of overcoming difficulties. He said: "There was a time when every week Tuan Anh had to apply ice, wear knee braces, and wrap his wrists because of injuries. But he never complained, always silently endured and found the fastest way to recover to continue training."
A memorable moment was at the 2025 National Jujitsu Club Championship. Just 3 days before the competition, Tuan Anh sprained his ankle during practice. Despite having difficulty walking, the male martial artist still insisted on competing. In order to be able to enter the ring, Tuan Anh tightly bandaged his leg, reduced the intensity of his warm-up, and adjusted his competition tactics. As a result, Tuan Anh won 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal. It was not the pinnacle of his ranking, but it was the clearest proof of Tuan Anh's brave fighting spirit and determination to overcome difficulties.

In addition to 3 Gold Medals at national tournaments in the period of 2024-2025, Tuan Anh also owns many Silver and Bronze Medals at other national tournaments. Notably, this martial artist won 2 Bronze Medals at the ASEAN Jujitsu Tournament - a large playground gathering the top martial artists in Southeast Asia, affirming his gradually forming international position.

At 19 years old, Tuan Anh is still at the beginning of his journey, but his achievements are enough to prove that he is not only a good swingman but also a person with a serious sports mindset, clear goals and knows how to excel in training and competition.
If he can maintain that spirit, Tuan Anh can absolutely become one of the typical faces of Vietnamese Jujitsu in the coming seasons.
