Lao Cai provincial authorities successfully rescued a nearly 3-month-old baby girl in Sa Pa and reunited her with her family 3 days after she was taken to China by criminals and sold.

Previously, at around 11pm on April 1, at the lakeside area of ​​Sa Pa town, Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province, while little girl Vang Thi May (born January 8, 2017) was being carried on her back by her mother to sell goods on the street, a group of 4 strangers came and asked to hold her and take a photo and paid 500,000 VND.

After picking up the baby, the two men in the group put May on the motorbike and sped away. The people around were shocked and shouted, but the two remaining people, one male and one female, also managed to run away.

Upon receiving the news, that same night, Sa Pa District Police organized a blockade and successively arrested two subjects, including Sung Thi Vang (born in 1994, residing in Ta Ngai Cho commune, Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province) and her lover Tan A Sang (born in 1997, residing in Su Pan commune, Sa Pa district).

At the police station, Vang and Sang confessed that their two remaining accomplices were Giang A Do (born in 1994, residing in Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province) and Giang Seo Hang (born in 1994, residing in Ta Ngai Cho commune, Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province).

On the morning of April 4, Giang A Do, after unsuccessfully trying to sell baby May to China because he "didn't get the right price", brought the baby back to Vietnam but was ambushed and arrested by border guards right at the border area of ​​village 3, Ban Vuoc commune, Bat Xat district.

Baby May was then taken care of by officers and soldiers of Bat Xat Border Guard Station and taken to the District General Hospital for a medical examination.

At 5:00 p.m. on April 4, the authorities coordinated to bring the child back to her hometown and return her to her family. Vang Thi May is the daughter of Ma Thi So and Vang A Giong in Lao Chai commune, Sa Pa district.

Currently, the authorities are continuing to expand the investigation of the case, and at the same time organizing the arrest of the remaining subject and mastermind - Giang Seo Hang./
