Foreign investment capital reached more than 15 billion USD
According to the Foreign Investment Agency, as of September 2012, the total number of foreign investment projects by Vietnamese enterprises was 736 projects with registered capital reaching approximately 15.044 billion USD.
In the first 9 months of 2012, the Ministry of Planning and Investment granted Overseas Investment Certificates to 66 projects, with total registered investment capital of Vietnamese investors reaching 1.217 billion USD.
The projects are mainly invested in the fields of agriculture and forestry (14 projects); wholesale, retail and repair (11 projects); processing and manufacturing industry has 8 projects; mining has 8 projects; the remaining projects are invested in the fields of accommodation and food services, education and training...
Compared to the same period in 2011, the number of newly licensed projects was 6 more, but the total registered capital was 313 million USD lower.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment also adjusted the Overseas Investment Certificates for 9 projects with an additional adjusted investment capital of 95.121 million USD.
As of September 2012, among the overseas investment projects, the top 5 industries with investment capital of 1 billion USD or more are: Information and communication with 40 projects, total capital of more than 1.037 billion USD; arts, entertainment and recreation with 3 projects, capital of more than 1.124 billion USD; agriculture, forestry and fisheries (89 projects with more than 1.85 billion USD); production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning (8 projects with nearly 2.1 billion USD); and the leading industry is the mining industry with 94 projects and nearly 5.2 billion USD in investment capital.
Among the countries and territories where domestic enterprises have invested, Laos leads with 221 projects and a total investment capital of nearly 3.8 billion USD. Cambodia ranks second with 123 projects and a capital of more than 2.566 billion USD. The US ranks third with 92 projects and 305.71 million USD.
