The U17 SLNA team is in Group B with Ha Tinh, QNK Quang Nam, SHB Da Nang, Binh Dinh and the host Thua Thien Hue. Facing the highly rated opponent SHB Da Nang in the pouring rain, coach Pham Bui Minh and his team still had a smooth start.

The qualifying round will take place from May 25 to June 16, 2016 at Tu Do Stadium, Hue City. In the qualifying round, the teams will compete in a round-robin format (home and away) to calculate the ranking points in each group. The 4 teams ranked first, 4 teams ranked second and 3 teams ranked third with higher points and indexes in the four groups will be selected for the final round. The final round will take place from August 3 to August 18, 2016. At 2 locations in Tay Ninh and another location after the qualifying round ends.
