(Baonghean.vn) – The tornado and floods caused by storm No. 4 have caused deep flooding in Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen districts, causing heavy damage to summer-autumn production. On the morning of September 17, nearly 150 officers and soldiers from the following units: Nghe An Provincial Military School, the Gathering Team, Regiment 764 under the Provincial Military Command, along with 120 union members and youths of Hung Nguyen district, helped people in Hung Dao and Hung Trung communes harvest flooded rice fields.

This summer-autumn crop, Hung Dao commune produced 490 hectares of rice, of which 120 hectares were flooded. Although the weather was sunny, because it was located at the end of the commune, water poured in from above, making it difficult to drain the water, so in Doi Trot field in hamlet 6, more than 5 hectares of ripe rice were submerged in water, about 10 hectares were flooded up to the neck of the flower.

The officers and soldiers waded through the water with the farmers to harvest the rice under the water, scooping the rice onto boats to transport it to shore, trying to salvage whatever little they could. Because the rice was ripe and had been submerged in water for many days, some of it had sprouted.

Despite being submerged in water for many hours, optimistic smiles still lit up the faces of the officers and soldiers of the provincial military.

In Hung Trung commune, the whole commune produces 380 hectares of rice, of which 160 hectares were flooded and fell. Armed forces and a large number of youth union members went directly to each family, focusing on helping people quickly harvest rice, avoiding some damage to farmers...

* These sunny days, farmers in Do Luong, Thanh Chuong districts... are also struggling to harvest the flooded summer-autumn rice crop. Currently, only about 50% of the rice area has been harvested.

Many fields in the communes of Minh Son, Xuan Son, Bac Son, Bai Son... (Do Luong) were hit by storms and rain, causing large areas of rice to fall over, making it difficult for farmers to harvest, mainly using human power to cut the rice by hand.

In places where the rice is less fallen, people rent combine harvesters for about 150,000 VND/sao. However, at this time, combine harvesters work day and night without stopping, so it is not easy to rent, and the rice falls over, so most farmers have to harvest by hand.
