VOV and Slovakian Radio and Television discuss media cooperation

VOV and RTVS leaders believe that the operating mechanisms of the two stations have many similarities.

With the support of the Embassy of Vietnam in the Republic of Slovakia and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovakia in Vietnam, on July 16, a delegation of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) led by Deputy General Director Tran Minh Hung visited and worked with the National Radio and Television Station of Slovakia (RTVS).

RTVS is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), established on the basis of the merger between Slovakian Radio and Television since 2011. Mr. VacLav MiKa, General Director of RTVS, said that RTVS has more than 1,000 staff and reporters, operating 11 radio channels and 2 television channels. In terms of radio alone, RTVS accounts for 85% of the Slovak public, while in terms of television, RTVS holds the 3rd position.

RTVS has a history of 90 years in radio and 60 years in television. Radio channels alone play a major role in generating revenue for RTVS. RTVS's income comes from media fees, budget support based on contracts with the state, and advertising.

Introducing to RTVS, Deputy General Director Tran Minh Hung said that VOV is a national radio station, developing according to a multimedia communication complex model with 7 radio channels, 18 television channels, along with print and electronic newspapers, with a staff of over 3,400 people.

VOV and RTVS leaders believe that the operating mechanisms of the two stations have many similarities. RTVS has sent many programs and radio broadcasts introducing the country and people of Slovakia to be broadcast on VOV's media. In the future, the two stations can expand cooperation in exchanging press products introducing tourism, culture, music... of the two countries, introducing comprehensive cooperation activities between Vietnam and Slovakia or exchanging reporters to work in the two countries.

Mr. Tran Minh Hung and Mr. VacLav MiKa agreed that VOV and RTVS will promote the signing of a cooperation document as soon as possible.

Slovakia is an EU country located in Eastern Europe, with a population of over 5 million people. Currently, there are more than 3,000 Vietnamese people studying and working in Skovakia./.
