VTV is implementing the Ethnic Language Television Project.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has justAgreeVietnam Television (VTV) implements the Ethnic Language Television Project for the 2012-2015 period.

For the "Equipment Investment" component project, the Deputy Prime Minister requested that it be implemented initially at facilities under Vietnam Television.

Vietnam Television coordinates with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to synthesize and review specifically, avoid duplicate and wasteful investment; submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval for the years 2013-2015.

Regarding the component "exchange of professional and technical expertise", the Deputy Prime Minister assigned Vietnam Television to coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communications to include relevant contents in this component in the Project "Strengthening information and communication staff at the grassroots level in mountainous, remote, border and island areas" under the National Target Program on providing information to grassroots level, mountainous, remote, border and island areas in the period 2012-2015; report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on editing and supplementing this content in Decision No.1212/QD-TTg.

Regarding the component project "Production of ethnic language television programs", the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Finance to guide Vietnam Television on program production costs according to current standards.

Vietnam Television shall preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to determine the additional funding needed to implement the Project in 2012 and submit it to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.

Mr. Lam Kiet Tuong, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television Station, said, "The National Television Project for the period 2012-2015 - VTV5" is a project of great political, economic and social significance.

The goal of Vietnam Television is to build VTV5 channel into a national channel. VTV5 is a channel that synthesizes information and propagates the Party's guidelines, policies, and the State's laws in ethnic minority languages, contributing to raising people's knowledge, promoting socio-economic development, and meeting the cultural enjoyment needs of ethnic minorities.

The project "Ethnic language television for the period 2012-2015" invests in 5 units of VTV, 40 local stations and 1 border guard unit and is divided into 3 component projects: a professional training project, an equipment investment project for production and production of ethnic television programs.
