Tragic car crash: Pu Huong forest ranger admits to escorting car for “boss”
(Baonghean) -Today (December 12), PV was able to access the incident report of Dao Cong Thang at the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Through this report, Thang admitted to escorting the car to transport wood to his “boss” Trinh Thanh Long - Head of Pu Huong Forest Protection Department.
In a 2-page report, Dao Cong Thang stated: “At around 9:30 p.m. on December 6, 2011, I went to Comrade Long’s room (Trinh Thanh Long – Deputy Director, concurrently Head of the Forest Protection Department of Pu Huong National Park) to visit. After sitting for a while, Comrade Long told me – my uncle and Kim Hung (Nguyen Kim Hung) to go to Xieng My to escort him, get in the car and bring the wood that had been used to build a house to Quy Hop town for him. Obeying the leader, I went with Comrade Kim Hung to Xieng My commune and saw a small car parked on the side of the road...

When I got back to the car, I saw Mr. Sy Tuan (Phan Sy Tuan - Head of Nga My Station in Tuong Duong District), Ngo Tuan and Phuc sitting in the car. Mr. Kim Hung and I sat with 3 comrades from Nga My Station (these 3 officers all worked at Nga My Forest Ranger Station - PV). At that time, there was a car loading wood about 200m from the asphalt road (National Highway 48C).
After waiting for a while, at about 3:00 a.m. on December 7, 2011, the truck finished loading the wood, comrade Kim Hung and I got into the cabin of that truck and the truck drove a short distance to Binh Chuan commune at Pu Huot slope at about 4 o'clock when suddenly the truck sped up and flipped over, I was injured and unconscious. A while later, the car of 3 comrades from Nga My station returned to take me and comrade Kim Hung to the control station at Nga My in Tuong Duong to bandage the wounds on my face and hands...
Because the wound was deep and bleeding profusely, our clothes were also stained with blood, so we changed our clothes. After that, comrade Ngo Tuan and Phuc drove Kim Hung and I to Quy Hop town. When we got to town, comrade Kim Hung returned to his office, while comrade Ngo Tuan and Phuc took me to Nghia Dan hospital to do the paperwork, clean the wound, and stitch the wound on my face. I was dizzy and confused, not knowing what to do, so I took a bus to Nam Dan for treatment...”.
Thus, Dao Cong Thang's testimony confirmed that he was directed by the District Chief to "escort" the vehicle during the process of transporting wood from Xieng My commune, Tuong Duong district (Nghe An).
On the same afternoon, Phan Sy Tuan was issued an emergency arrest warrant by Nghe An police to investigate the case.
