Murder of female student in Dien Bien: Wife of cruel mastermind revealed
The subjects were all drug addicts, which perhaps explains in part their long-term cruelty.
All 8 suspects arrested in the case of the female student who was murdered while delivering chicken in Dien Bien exuded a fearless audacity. More frighteningly, most of them were drug addicts, and this may partly explain their long-term cruelty.
Complex identity, fraudulent declaration
The particularly serious case in Dien Bien happened right before Tet, and it was a source of concern and determination for the Dien Bien Police and the Ministry of Public Security's professional units to quickly find and arrest the perpetrator.

The truth about some subjects in the case |
On the afternoon of February 4 (ie the 30th of Tet), the female student CMD was reported missing by her family to the police after delivering chicken to a customer by motorbike. Three days later, the body of the unfortunate victim was found at an abandoned livestock farm in Thanh Nua commune, Dien Bien district.
The signs of the murder were clearly shown through the many injuries on the victim D's body. The Dien Bien Provincial Police Department has decided to initiate a criminal investigation; the case with details that later, the provincial police leader shared sadly: "This has never happened before in Dien Bien".
Within 72 hours of the discovery of the body of female student D., the task force, in coordination with Dien Bien Police, the Criminal Police Department and other functional units, based on screening and screening hundreds of suspects, took legal action against the first suspect: Vuong Van Hung.

Vuong Van Hung - the first suspect arrested in the case. |
35 years old, registered permanent residence in Tan Thuy block, Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien; however, this suspect has 3 criminal records, is a drug addict and actually has no fixed residence, often wandering around Dien Bien Phu city and Dien Bien district.
Learning about Vuong Van Hung's personal history, seeing the complexity, one can imagine why he was so calm, devious and cold in the process of confessing his crimes.
His paternal family was originally from Hai Duong and used to have the surname Nguyen; after moving to Dien Bien and his parents divorced, Hung changed his surname from Nguyen to his mother's. His younger brother still has his father's surname, and this person is also serving a prison sentence.
Hung and his brothers were both drug addicts and were sent to compulsory drug rehabilitation. After completing their rehabilitation, Hung wandered around, committed crimes, got out of prison, and then went to the Dien Bien area.
When arrested, with the evidence and documents collected by the police, Vuong Van Hung confessed to committing the crime alone, and that the motive for killing the victim D. was to rob her property. In order to conceal his crime, Hung confessed to having staged a fake crime scene, dumping the victim’s body in the pig pen of an abandoned house, as well as the motorbike more than 10 km away from where the body was found.
The knot of the case seemed to have been basically revealed, but that was not the case, when the blood sample of the victim CMD was found on the truck of Bui Van Cong (born 1975), the "addict friend" of Vuong Van Hung.
Mastermind of crime, creating a gentle cover
Among the 8 suspects arrested so far, Bui Van Cong is the one with the most “lonely” face. Locally, besides being a drug addict, Cong is considered by his neighbors to be “gentle, rarely having conflicts with anyone”. Even when Cong’s wife - Bui Thi Kim Thu “accidentally” discovered D.’s body, Cong was eager to tell the villagers to report it to the police.
Arrested after Vuong Van Hung, but it turned out that Bui Van Cong was the mastermind behind this brutal and inhumane crime. He was the one who discussed with Vuong Van Hung to target the victim D. to rob her and rape her.

Bui Van Cong and his wife had a cunning process of concealing their crimes. |
After luring D. to an abandoned house in the ditch area of residential group 11, Thanh Truong ward, Dien Bien Phu city, Hung used a baton with an iron chain to strangle D. until she passed out. Receiving a phone call from Hung, Cong immediately invited Pham Van Nhiem, and these three men took turns harming the young girl, then put her in Cong's truck and drove her away.
The initial investigation determined that after leaving the abandoned house, Cong drove to his house, restrained D. and brought her inside. It was also Bui Van Cong who later used a weapon with his accomplices to strangle the young girl, and drove the car carrying the body to dispose of the evidence.
Before being arrested, Cong had explained to his neighbors that the police had summoned him for questioning because they had “called the wrong person”. Cong’s “innocence” was also actively supported by his wife, Bui Thi Kim Thu, who continuously tried to share with the neighbors about her husband: “He was shocked, told me to go to the police while he went to call everyone. He also told me where the body was, asked me to show him the place. I still hope that my husband had nothing to do with it, and was only called because of his involvement with his drug-addicted friends”.
Bui Van Cong's true face was finally revealed, through being prosecuted by the Investigation Police for a series of crimes: Murder, Robbery, Rape, Illegal Detention, and Illegal Possession of Drugs.
Three scenes, and the place where all sins are concentrated
On March 23, after deciding to prosecute and arrest 3 more suspects in this particularly serious case, the Investigation Police continued to search Bui Van Cong's house.
This “tube” shaped house is located along National Highway 12 from Dien Bien to Lai Chau, about 6km from Dien Bien Phu city center. The house was built around the end of 2017, early 2018 on an area of about 100m2, with living rooms, bedrooms, kitchen - bathroom...

The police searched Bui Van Cong's house on March 23, the main scene of the case. |
Summing up the developments of the case up to this point, there are at least 3 crime scenes of the criminal group; the livestock area near the abandoned house in Thanh Nua commune; Bui Van Cong's truck; and the house of the mastermind Bui Van Cong.
Nearly 10 hours of searching helped the police seize more important documents, evidence, and traces, especially determining that this was the main scene of the case; completely contrary to the initial statements of the subjects that they detained D. in the truck, then brought her to the cemetery to kill her...
Specifically, from February 4-5, the subjects used rope to tie the victim, stuffed a rag in her mouth, and then brought her into Bui Van Cong's house, repeatedly committing depraved acts after using synthetic drugs together. Also here, after detaining, harming and murdering the female student CMD, the subjects took the victim's body to hide in the livestock area of Thanh Nua commune.
It can be seen that the main scene of this case is where most of the crimes were committed, including Bui Thi Kim Thu, wife of Bui Van Cong, who is no less condemnable.
It was here that Thu caught a subject committing a depraved act with D. right in the bedroom. But instead of intervening and reporting to the police, this woman only coldly said: "Don't do that in my room."
Victim D. could have been rescued if Bui Thi Kim Thu had any humanity left. The crimes of the 7 “beasts in human form” could have been exposed sooner if not for the deceitful cover-up of the only female defendant in this case.
Legal expert Trinh Van commented that the investigation agency’s prosecution of Bui Thi Kim Thu for the crime of Failure to report a crime could be based on initial signs of a crime. If the general assessment of the case is as reported by the press, this defendant could be considered for prosecution for the crime of Concealing a Crime, with a more severe and appropriate sentence…
