Military plane crash: Black box also has problems
Authorities are decoding data inside the black box of the Mi 171 helicopter, but the job is difficult because the black box itself has problems.
Speaking to Thanh Nien Online this afternoon, July 8, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, said that authorities are urgently decoding the data from the black box of the crashed plane to find the cause of the accident.
However, this work is very difficult because the black box itself has technical problems.
According to Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, currently, specialized agencies are actively determining the identity and remains of each fallen soldier.
In normal cases, DNA testing only takes 24-36 hours to get results. In this accident, some of the soldiers' bodies were burned, so DNA testing will be more difficult and take more time.

In this incident, the Air Defense - Air Force and the Hanoi Capital Command will preside over the funeral for the fallen soldiers. Currently, these units are waiting for the results of clear identity verification to organize the funeral.
Colonel Tran Quang Hoa, Commander of the Air Rescue Training Center, Air Defense - Air Force, said that this unit had one officer sacrificed. That was Lieutenant Nguyen Dao Hong Tam, team leader of the air rescue parachute instructor who directly trained the parachute students.
According to Colonel Hoa, the plane crashed while it was gaining altitude. Because it had not reached the required altitude, the students wearing parachutes could not jump out. Based on the normal take-off trajectory, the plane crashed while on orbit 1, the plane would have turned left and crashed right into the Hoa Lac market, which is very crowded in the morning.
In this situation, the crew tried to steer the plane to the right to crash into an empty area where there were no people. “If it weren’t for the brave actions of the crew, the plane would have gotten caught in a high-voltage wire or crashed into a market with 300-400 people, and we don’t know what the consequences would have been. Before sacrificing their lives, the crew acted very bravely,” Colonel Hoa affirmed.
According to Thanh Nien Online, the Mi 171 aircraft that crashed and exploded during training was purchased from Russia in 2005. During its time in use, this aircraft participated in many rescue missions in many special natural and flood situations.
