Vu Thi Huong injured before ASIAD 17
Vietnam's gold medal hope for athletics at the 2014 Asian Games is being treated for an injury due to recent heavy workload.
On September 23, Vu Thi Huong and the athletics team left for Incheon (South Korea) to participate in the 17th ASIAD. According to the plan, on September 27, Vietnam's "speed queen" will compete in the 100m race on her favorite track and on September 30 in the 200m event. However, in an interview withPV, the athlete from Thai Nguyen said she recently suffered back and leg injuries, so achieving her best form in the upcoming competition days is no small challenge.

“The injury is not too serious, but it has significantly affected my fitness, strength, agility and performance. Although I have not recovered yet, I still have to try to practice to maintain it because the competition day is near. After each training session, I need medical treatment,” said Vu Thi Huong.
The athlete who won seven SEA Games gold medals said the injury stemmed from her recent weight training program. “Whether the injury is serious or minor, my performance and form will definitely be significantly reduced. Hopefully, on the day of the competition, everything will be fine,” she said.
ASIAD 17 could be the last big tournament for the 1986-born star. Previously, Vu Thi Huong hoped to make her mark at this tournament, as a farewell to top sports before taking care of her private life.
