Happy Children's Day with poor sick children

(Baonghean.vn) -There are no expensive toys or delicious cakes on International Children's Day, but the children being treated at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital still feel warm, happy and have memorable memories from everyone's care and sharing.
In order to help poor children in difficult circumstances who are being treated at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital have a happy Children's Day, on the afternoon of May 31, the Buddhist delegation of Phuc Thanh Pagoda, Hung Chau Commune, Hung Nguyen District organized a program to visit and give gifts to the children. The Buddhist delegation brought more than 50 gifts (each worth 220,000 VND) to more than 50 children in difficult circumstances at the Children's Hospital and 400 free boxes of milk for all children being treated here. A bag of chips, a carton of milk, light Children's Day gifts were given to the sick children. Although they celebrated their holiday right on their hospital beds, surrounded by conveyor belts, for many children, June 1 was still as joyful as Tet.
Venerable Thich Dinh Tue - abbot of Phuc Thanh pagoda, along with monks and nuns, Buddhists present at the gift giving ceremony, shared: "These are small gifts showing the compassion of Buddhists to the people and the desire to contribute a small part to help families of sick children and children in difficult circumstances have a warm and happy Children's Day. Bringing the donated gifts, we Buddhists feel happy and joyful because we can share the difficulties with the children on this day."

Also on the evening of May 31, Tia Sang Volunteer Club organized the program "Happy Children's Day" for the children being treated at the hospital. Although the program did not start until 8 pm, since the afternoon, volunteers have been diligently preparing the stage and speakers to have the most perfect Children's Day festival for the children. As the program got closer, the children were carried down to the lobby in front of the hospital by their parents with excitement and anticipation. Each child had a different situation, being treated for a different disease, but they all felt happy to be able to play with their friends on Children's Day. The usual gloomy atmosphere in the hospital has now been replaced by the cheerful and innocent laughter of the children.
We saw tears rolling down the faces of mothers and fathers when they tore open the package of chips, put straws in milk boxes for their little children who are struggling with illness. As for the sick children, they still innocently enjoy the joy of childhood: the joy of receiving cakes and gifts. Ms. Lo Thi Hien (born in 1983, Tam Thai commune, Tuong Duong district), whose child Vieng Tuan Anh has been hospitalized in the Cardiology Department for nearly a week, confided: "In the countryside, there is nothing on Children's Day. The children's education is already expensive, so where can we get gifts for them? This is the first time my child and I have been able to participate in such a fun program." Receiving a small gift from the volunteers, Tran Dang Dat (7 years old, Hung Binh ward, Vinh city), who is being treated in the Gastroenterology Department, happily said: "Last year, on Children's Day, I also had fun with my friends in the ward. Today, I am also very happy because I got to play many fun games and receive gifts from everyone."

Perhaps the most touching part of the Children's Day celebration was the dream drawing contest of the sick children. Five children with crayons drew their small dreams, one wanted to be the owner of a restaurant, another wanted to be a teacher, a police officer... Although the drawing of the boy named Tay who is being treated in the respiratory department was still lacking in details, it was enough for everyone to imagine the image of young friends holding hands and playing a game together. "I want to get well soon and go home to play with my friends", Tay's soft voice when asked by the host about his wish made everyone tear up.
Also on Children's Day night, Tia Sang Volunteer Club donated all the money that the Club had raised to help two children, Hoang Xuan Phap (14 months old, in Hung Nguyen) and Thai Huu Hoang (2 years old, Yen Thanh) with congenital heart disease who had just undergone surgery. Both families are poor.
A sick child's dream of a quick recovery and being able to go home and play with his friends touched everyone.
Doctor Duong Cong Hoat - Director of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, shared: "Currently, the number of children coming for treatment at Nghe An Children's Hospital is very large, including many children with less fortunate circumstances. In addition to the responsibility of caring for and treating children, we also hope that there will be more individuals and organizations joining the hospital to have more meaningful programs to care for and help children overcome the pain of illness"./.
