(Baonghean) -Vung Chua - Yen Island, the resting place of General Vo Nguyen Giap, is located in Tho Son village, one of the five villages of Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province. This area is about 3km from National Highway 1A, 4km from Hoanh Son range (Ngang Pass), and is surrounded by Hon La, Hon Gio and Hon Nom. Therefore, this land is sheltered from the wind, the sea surface is peaceful, flat, with a long stretch of fine white sand that is still very wild. The tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap is located on Mui Rong mountain (Tho Son village). Right at the point where Mui Rong mountain juts out into the waves, there are two caves, one large, one small. Every time the waves hit, the sea water splashes white, just like a dragon's mouth spitting water...
Since ancient times, Mui Rong Mountain has been considered by the people as a sacred land, where the spiritual energy of heaven and earth converges. Opposite Mui Rong Mountain is Hon Nom, popularly known as Yen Island (an island with many swiftlets), with an area of about 10 hectares, about 20 minutes by boat from Vung Chua beach. According to the locals, there used to be a pagoda on the island, which was destroyed by bombs during the war, so the whole area is called Vung Chua - Yen Island.
