(Baonghean.vn)- When mentioning Ve - Khe Choong village in Yen Na commune, (Tuong Duong, Nghe An), many people call it the 'Western village', the 'giant' village because the women of this village are often much taller than women in many other regions.

Women of Ban Ve - Khe Choong are not only tall but also have a very 'huge' weight.

Talking with Ms. Luong Thi Huynh, Head of Ban Ve - Khe Choong village, she said, "Many women in my village are very tall, most of them are over 1.65 m tall and weigh over 70 kg."

Ban Ve - Khe Choong has 175 households, all of whom are Thai. The main occupation of the villagers here is slash-and-burn farming. In addition, there is a group of people who do small business and trading...

Rough statistics show that in the village there are about 30 women who are approximately 1.7 m tall and weigh more than 70 kg. In addition, the other women are also very rare to be short and small. Ms. Huynh (born in 1967), the village chief, is also nearly 1.70 m tall and weighs 75 kg. According to Ms. Huynh, looking at her appearance, most of the women in her village are much taller than women in other villages.

Local people often call Ban Ve by a very special name: "the village of Western girls". These people are as tall as the most muscular men in the village.

Not far from Ms. Luong Huynh's house is Ms. Lo Thi Huynh's house (born 1968). She also weighs nearly 75kg and is 1.65m tall. Next to Ms. Lo Thi Huynh's house is Ms. Lo Thi Thu, who is not much "inferior" to her sisters in the village with a weight of over 70kg and a height of nearly 1.70m.

The woman considered the most "big" in the village is Ms. Lo Thi Xoan (born in 1974). Ms. Xoan is nearly 1.75m tall and weighs nearly 80kg.

Ms. Luong Thi Huynh is taller and weighs more than many men.

When asked about the "secret" to having a tall figure, the women all said: "There is nothing special. The food portion is normal, even less than many shorter people. It is partly due to genetics because our parents and grandparents are all tall."

Thanks to their height, weight and good health, Khe Choong women can do many things that only men can think of.

Ms. Huynh (Village Chief) added that for “big” people like the women in Ve - Khe Choong village, the hardest thing for them is shopping for clothes and shoes. To choose a shirt or pants that they like, they sometimes have to go to the whole market to find the right fit. As for women’s sandals, they cannot fit them. They have to wear men’s flip-flops. And some people even have to order sandals from Laos to be able to wear them.

Most women in the village have to wear oversized sandals or men's flip-flops.

The women said that being tall also brings many benefits. One woman shared that she can carry a basket of rice weighing more than 60kg and still move like a bird. She doesn’t have to worry too much about heavy housework when her husband is away.
