In recent years, thanks to the dynamism in management and production development, Nghi Thach commune has had many important changes in economic restructuring towards increasing the proportion of service industries and decreasing agriculture. Of which, the proportion of agriculture accounts for 26%, commercial services 34.8%, small-scale industry 39.2%. In 2013 alone, the production value reached 123.7 billion VND, the economic growth rate reached 8.5%, and the average income per capita reached 19.2 million VND/year.

One of the top goals that the Party Committee, government and all people of Nghi Thach are interested in is the National Target Program on New Rural Development. Implementing the direction of the superiors, the new rural development program in Nghi Thach has achieved many positive results. Up to now, the commune has completed 12/19 criteria on new rural development, creating positive changes in the "three rural" policy (agriculture, farmers and rural areas); Promoting the potentials, internal resources, and material facilities of each household and the increasingly developed society.

To improve the efficiency of electricity supply for the people, the whole commune has built 7 transformer stations, 100% of households have access to electricity. The radio system has promoted 4-level broadcasting well, the inter-commune, inter-village and intra-village traffic system has been basically concreted with more than 13 km of asphalt road and 15 km of concrete road. Rural infrastructure such as electricity, roads, schools, cultural houses, commune offices, medical stations, etc. have been invested in a modern and spacious direction.

The movement of the whole people uniting to build a cultural life has been strongly responded by households, the rate of cultural families in 2013 reached 85%. Currently, the whole commune has built 12/17 cultural villages, reaching 70.6% and 1 cultural family. In addition, the commune is also continuing to implement the Project "Building cultural villages in religious areas" according to the Resolution of the Party Committee.

Thanks to good propaganda and mobilization work, up to now, over 13 hamlets have had thousands of square meters of land donated, hundreds of meters of walls built, thousands of trees of all kinds voluntarily dismantled by the people to build rural roads. Along with that, the commune has also completed the work of establishing the land use plan for 2011 - 2020 and the land use plan for 2011 - 2015.

To develop the locality sustainably, the commune takes care of education. The quality of the teaching staff, school facilities, and learning equipment for students are also invested in. Two-thirds of schools meet national standards. Thanks to that, the quality of education is increasingly improved. In the 2012-2013 school year, the whole commune had 34 students who achieved excellent student results at the district level, and 7 students who achieved excellent student results at the provincial level. Every year, nearly 100 students in the commune pass the entrance exams to universities, colleges, and vocational schools nationwide. Health care for the people is increasingly concerned. New techniques are gradually introduced into medical examination and treatment for the people, disease prevention and control are well implemented, proactively developing plans and implementing them from the health station to the hamlet. Currently, the commune has been recognized as a national standard commune in health.

In addition, the work of ensuring political security and social order and safety in the area is also of concern. The commune has established 27 self-management groups with 297 members participating.

These results were achieved thanks to the close direction of the Party Committee and the management of the government, the strong participation of organizations and people, contributing to the gradual development of Nghi Thach. When it was first established, Nghi Thach had only 1 Party cell and a small number of Party members. Now, there are 290 Party members in 17 Party cells. The Party Committee has many comrades who are 60, 50, and 40 years old in the Party. For many years, the Party Committee has been recognized as a Party Committee that has excellently fulfilled its tasks. The mass organizations have always promoted their roles and functions well in their activities, and have been rated as good and excellent by all levels and sectors. Thanks to that consensus, emulation movements have been widely deployed, bringing about positive results.

Promoting the heroic tradition of the homeland, striving to build Nghi Thach increasingly rich and civilized, one of the most important things that the Party Committee and the government of Nghi Thach commune are currently interested in is building a united bloc, creating high consensus among the masses. Promoting the internal strength of the people in investing in economic development, building cultural life, ensuring national defense and security. At the same time, taking advantage of the support and assistance of superiors in development orientation, creating good mechanisms and policies to attract investment and sponsorship from organizations inside and outside the province to develop the local economy and society. Successfully implementing the Resolution of the Party Executive Committee of the commune for the term 2010 - 2015, gradually completing the criteria for building new rural areas according to the set plan.
