Ramsar is an international convention for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands, with the aim of recognizing the fundamental ecological functions of wetlands and their recreational, scientific, cultural and economic values.

Ca Mau province will choose a suitable day to hold a ceremony to receive the certificate of recognition of Ca Mau Cape National Park - the world's new Ramsar site, marking a meaningful milestone in the southernmost land of the Fatherland.

Located in Dat Mui commune, Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province, Mui Ca Mau National Park has an area of over 41,800 hectares, is a coastal mangrove area. This place has many rare animals such as grey-footed pelicans, Giang Sen, Otters, Large-spotted civets, precious turtles and hundreds of aquatic, plant and amphibian species that are being preserved.

Mui Ca Mau National Park is the fifth Ramsar site in Vietnam to be recognized by the World Environment Organization as a new Ramsar site in the world; following the list of Ramsar sites recognized by Xuan Thuy National Park in Nam Dinh province, Bau Sau in Cat Tien National Park in Dong Nai, Ba Be Lake in Bac Kan province and Tram Chim National Park in Dong Thap province.

This is an opportunity for Ca Mau province to invest in exploiting the potential and strengths of wetlands to serve the development of ecotourism; at the same time, preserving many rare species of animals and plants listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the world.
