Pu Mat National Park: Releasing 3 red-faced monkeys back into the forest
(Baonghean.vn) -October 21,The wildlife rescue center of Pu Mat National Park has released three red-faced macaques (Macaca arctoides) and several rare animals back into the wild.
Mr. Tran Xuan Cuong - Deputy Director of Pu Mat National Park said: "The red-faced monkeys were captured by the provincial forest rangers and the Park's Forest Ranger Department from illegal wildlife trading, hunting, and transportation cases in the past and handed over to the Park's Rescue Center to be released into the natural environment."

3 Red-faced macaques (Macaca arctoides) weighing 12.5 kg were handed over by Thai Hoa Town Forest Protection Department on October 22, 2012 (including 01 baby macaque born during the rescue process at Pu Mat National Park); 1 individual weighing 5 kg was handed over by Mr. Le Hong Nhan - a teacher in Hoa Binh Town, Tuong Duong on July 10, 2014 and 1 pig-tailed macaque (Macaca nemestrina), weighing 2.5 kg was handed over by Ms. Ho Thi Phuong - Truong Chinh Street, Vinh City on September 26, 2013.

On this occasion, the Wildlife Rescue Center of Pu Mat National Park released 1 small loris (Nicticebus pygmaeus), weighing 01kg, handed over by Ms. Le Thi Nhu Mai, Vinh city, on June 27, 2014; and 02 yellow-fronted box turtles (Cuora galbinifrons), weighing 1.4kg and 01 mountain tortoise (Manouria impressa), weighing 01kg, handed over by the Forest Protection Department of Pu Mat National Park on August 1, 2014.

“All of the above species are on the list of rare animals with conservation value,” affirmed Mr. Tran Xuan Cuong, Deputy Director of Pu Mat National Park.
