Wushu and fencing bring 2 bronze medals to Vietnam
Early this afternoon, Wushu and fencing brought the Vietnamese delegation 2 bronze medals at the 17th ASIAD.
In the men's tai chi event this morning, Nguyen Thanh Tung won 9.62 points and tied for third place with athletes from Malaysia and Taiwan (China).
This promises a fierce competition in the Tai Chi Sword event taking place in the afternoon. And in this event, Thanh Tung was one of the first athletes to compete and he continued to win 9.62 points.
With this score, many people think that Thanh Tung will have a hard time winning a medal when the athletes above him after the morning competition are Japanese and Chinese athletes who both competed later.
Nguyen Thanh Tung won the bronze medal in a dramatic way.
However, a surprise happened when the Japanese athlete did not perform well and only got 9.54 points in the Tai Chi Sword competition and fell behind. Meanwhile, the athletes from Malaysia and Taiwan also did not perform well and fell behind Thanh Tung.
In the final result, with a score of 19.24, Thanh Tung brought home another bronze medal for the Vietnamese delegation in today's competition. The gold medal in Tai Chi was won by Chen Zouli of China and the silver medal was won by Daniel Parantac of the Philippines.
Along with Thanh Tung's bronze medal, today, the Vietnamese sports delegation also won another bronze medal in the men's team fencing event after the Vietnamese athletes lost to Korea with a score of 25-42 in the semi-final match.Thus, up to now, the Vietnamese team has won 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals at the 17th ASIAD.
