(Baonghean) – DateOn August 26, 2011, two buffaloes belonging to Mr. Lim Van Dang in Ke Ninh village and Mr. Hoang Van Ngan in Dinh Tien village (Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district) were eating grass and suddenly died. People butchered them and sold them.

Mr. Bui Van Yen (Chief of Ke Ninh village) said: At the end of June 2011, in the two villages of Dinh Tien and Ke Ninh, anthrax appeared in the buffalo herd and 14 buffaloes died. After that, the veterinary agency deployed to the two villages to disinfect, vaccinate and treat the infected buffaloes. On average, it costs 200-300 thousand VND to vaccinate a buffalo, some families raise 4-5 buffaloes and need millions of VND to vaccinate, so many families have buffaloes but cannot vaccinate because they are poor and do not have money to buy medicine.

Mr. Yen said that the death of Mr. Ngan and Mr. Dang's two buffaloes was due to not being fully vaccinated, causing the THT disease to recur.

Currently, not only the buffaloes of Mr. Dang and Mr. Ngan's families have died, but also livestock such as chickens, ducks, and dogs of the local people have died en masse. Many families, after their livestock and poultry die, do not bury them but butcher them, sell them, and share them.

We hope that Chau Hanh commune government and relevant agencies will take measures to prevent the spread of the disease./.
