In February 2000, after completing his military service and returning to his locality, he was elected as Secretary of the Youth Union of Tien Lo hamlet. In 2001, he was elected as Secretary of the Party Cell and Hamlet Chief. In 2003, he was elected to the People's Council of Nghia My commune. From April 2003, he was elected as Commander of the Military Committee of Nghia My commune.

In his position, he always promotes the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", is dedicated and responsible for his work, plays a good role as an advisor to the local Party Committee and government, leads, directs and organizes the comprehensive and effective implementation of local military and defense tasks. During his 7 years as a commune team leader, every year the local military and defense work of Nghia My commune is completed well, highly appreciated by the Military Command of Thai Hoa Town, and awarded many Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit by superiors. Comrade Le Van Vien himself has received Certificates of Merit from the Town People's Committee for many consecutive years.

In recent times, he and his comrades in the Commune Military Command have regularly coordinated with the Commune Police Department to patrol and guard to ensure security and order in the area. Many incidents related to security and order have been detected, prevented and promptly handled by them. For example, recently, the Commune Military Command coordinated with the Nghia My Commune Police Department to crack down on a gambling case, thereby discovering a drug storage and illegal use ring in Thinh My hamlet, Nghia My commune.

In addition to his professional work, Mr. Vien also takes advantage of his time to develop his family's economy. With 2 sao of garden land, he and his wife built a barn to raise pigs, geese, chickens and grow bananas to increase income and improve their lives. He also spends time teaching and encouraging his children to strive to excel in their studies.
