Hung Thong Commune received the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 5, the Party Committee and people of Hung Thong commune (Hung Nguyen district) solemnly held a ceremony to welcome the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces - a noble award that the Party and State bestowed on Hung Thong commune.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of departments, branches and Hung Nguyen district.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai, authorized by the President, awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the Party Committee and people of Hung Thong commune.

At the ceremony, comrade Vo Thanh Hai - Chairman of Hung Thong Commune People's Committee reported on the outstanding achievements of the commune during the resistance war against France, against the US and in the current renovation process. During the resistance war against France, the Party Committee and people of Hung Thong commune fought bravely and did a good job in building a strong rear. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Hung Thong was the place to welcome agencies to evacuate, a transit station for goods, food, weapons and ammunition to supply the southern battlefield. Hundreds of young people of Hung Thong commune enlisted in the army and participated in the resistance war. At the rear, the people of Hung Thong commune actively worked in production, providing manpower and resources to the front line.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Hung Thong commune had over 100 of its people sacrificed on the battlefields, over 100 people were injured and infected with the chemical dioxin; the commune has 3 heroic Vietnamese mothers, currently preparing documents to propose posthumously awarding the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother to 8 mothers; 502 families were awarded medals for resistance against the US to save the country; 1,500 people were awarded medals for resistance against the US to save the country; over 1,000 individuals and families were awarded certificates of merit for their contributions to the resistance war against the US,...

With its achievements, the Party Committee and People of Hung Thong commune were awarded the title of Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces.

At the ceremony, comrade Le Xuan Dai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, authorized by the President, pinned badges, awarded flags, presented the title of Hero of the Armed Forces, presented flowers, and congratulated the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Hung Thong commune. At the same time, he hoped that the Party Committee and people of Hung Nguyen district as well as Hung Thong commune would continue to promote the tradition of the hometown of General Secretary Le Hong Phong, focus on building the homeland to be more and more civilized and beautiful and become a typical new rural commune of the district.
