Ky Tan Commune (Tan Ky): Strongly awakening potential

(Baonghean) - In the past term, the Party Committee, government and people of Ky Tan commune (Tan Ky) have achieved many remarkable results, creating a premise to enter a new term with the goal of higher economic development; in which trade and services are identified as the spearhead.

Ky Tan today is really transforming strongly in the fields of economy, culture - society, national defense - security; clearly shown in the new rural appearance from investment in infrastructure development. Talking to us, the Party Secretary of the commune - comrade Nguyen Tat Tan proudly confided: Achieving that result is thanks to the high determination of the Party Committee, government and people over the past 5 years with remarkable results: The Party Committee has achieved clean and strong status for 5 consecutive years, and was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Provincial People's Committee for the patriotic emulation movement. The poverty rate has decreased to 3.5%. The whole commune has 6,500 people, 11 hamlets, including 1 Catholic hamlet, with the spirit of "living a good life, beautiful religion", the Catholics here always focus on economic - cultural and social development, building solidarity between Catholics and non-Catholics. Along with the investment of the State, the locality has built many welfare works to meet the living needs of the people.

With the motto "The State and the people work together", in the past year, Ky Tan has built a number of key projects: Building the commune People's Committee headquarters with a total capital of 3.2 billion VND; building 5 hamlet cultural houses with a total value of over 1 billion VND, building kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, medical stations... Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, the whole commune has cleared 24 km of inter-village and inter-commune roads, built many bridges and poured concrete for 1.45 km in accordance with New Rural standards. Up to now, Ky Tan has completed 13/19 New Rural criteria; invested in repairing the system of dikes and dams to store water for irrigation of crops.

In the fields of culture, society, national defense and security, Party building work has received local attention and created important marks. Taking care to build a healthy educational environment, the scale of schools and classrooms has developed reasonably, the movement to encourage learning and talent has increasingly developed, and has received positive responses from many classes of people.

The movement of “All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas” has really come into life; in the past 5 years, 3 hamlets have maintained the title of cultural and developed 1 more cultural hamlet; the rate of cultural families at all levels is higher year after year. The political system has been consolidated, the capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization have been raised; organizations in the political system have been built to be comprehensively strong, taking care of planning, training, fostering cadres, implementing democratic regulations in introducing, rotating cadres, and appointing cadres. In the past term, the Ky Tan Party Committee has admitted 30 outstanding people into the Party, the quality of Party members and Party activities have been significantly improved.

Ky Tan has the advantage of being close to Lat Town and having Ho Chi Minh Road running through it, so the commune determines to encourage investment in developing industries, prioritizing services of supplying materials and goods for agricultural production, purchasing agricultural products, expanding and improving the quality of transportation services and investing in construction. In addition, encourage the development of industries such as mechanics, high-end carpentry, auto and motorbike repair, refrigeration, civil electricity, etc. to solve employment and increase income for people. At the same time, focus on developing agricultural production and stabilizing food. Regarding culture and society, continue to pay attention to directing the construction of cultural institutional centers in villages and hamlets, striving to achieve the criteria of cultural families and cultural villages. Accelerate the roadmap for building schools that meet national standards. Strive to maintain the leading position in national defense and security.

The specific goals set by the Ky Tan Party Congress for the 2015-2020 term are: Economic growth rate from 12 - 13%. Total production value by 2020 is estimated at 253,461 million VND; average income per capita reaches 33.3 million VND/year. By 2020, the economic structure of agriculture - forestry - fishery accounts for 28%; industry - handicraft - construction 9%; trade - services account for 63%. Strive to have 3% of poor households by 2020, the rate of cultural families from 80 - 90%, the rate of cultural units reaching 72%, the rate of malnourished children under 5 years old reaching 9.3%; building junior high schools, kindergartens meeting national standards and primary schools meeting national standards in phase II; medical stations with doctors, forest coverage rate reaching 45.1%; Aiming to achieve 19/19 NTM criteria by 2017...

The Ky Tan Party Committee also identified the key task as building a strong Party and political system, creating unity and solidarity within the Party, consensus among the people, concretizing the Resolution of the new term Congress with specific programs and projects, comprehensive development based on the potential and advantages of the locality, hoping that Ky Tan will always be worthy of the top title of Tan Ky district.
