Nghi Long Commune (Nghi Loc) celebrates its 60th anniversary

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 7, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc district solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the commune's founding (1954 - 2014).

Nghi Long commune is one of three communes of Nghi Loc district, separated from Thuan Hoa commune in 1954. Nghi Long land has long been the sea, the north of the commune has Tuong Son mountain, Ngoc Son mountain, the southeast has a Rao river originating from Vinh flowing through Nghi Long commune and then pouring into the sea. During the development of history, this land has changed many times in terms of administrative units and different names. At that time, Nghi Long had 7 villages: Danh Yen Son, My Ngoc, Vinh Long, Ong La, Kim Dien, Kim Nghia and Kim Ngoc. Up to now, the commune has 42 clans.

Nghi Long with its cluster of historical relics of temples, communal houses, pagodas and a number of church systems of 42 clans built by our ancestors long ago, is a highlight with rare spiritual culture, reflecting the economic development, cultural life, beliefs and religions of the time such as: Vang village pagoda, Hong Phuc pagoda, Ba Co temple, Thinh My pagoda, Kim La communal house, ... Along with the formation and development of spiritual and cultural life, Nghi Long is also considered the cradle of the tradition of studiousness. In particular, there is a family with 4 generations of doctorates such as Dinh Van family...

After 60 years of construction and development, Nghi Long commune today is one of 30 communes and towns of Nghi Loc district, with a population of 7,000 people and 1,800 households. The whole commune has 30% rich households, 60% well-off households, and only 5.5% poor households. The economic growth rate reached 12.5%, the economic structure shifted in the right direction, and the average income per capita reached over 26 million VND/person/year. Currently, the commune has completed 13/19 criteria in the roadmap for building new rural areas. The socio-cultural cause has developed quite synchronously, with 13/16 hamlets meeting the cultural village standard, 90% of families meeting the cultural family standard; national defense and security have always been maintained. The commune Party Committee has always been recognized for completing its tasks well and being a strong member.

Also at this celebration, 01 collective and 02 individuals of Nghi Long commune were awarded certificates of merit by the People's Committee of Nghe An province for their outstanding achievements over the past 60 years.
