Nghia Dong Commune (Tan Ky) receives recognition as a new rural commune
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 8, the Party Committee, government and people of Nghia Dong commune, Tan Ky district solemnly held a ceremony to receive the commune meeting national standards for New Rural Areas.
Attending the ceremony were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction in Nghe An province; comrade Nguyen Duy Thuy - Secretary of Tan Ky District Party Committee; district and local leaders and a large number of people from all walks of life in Nghia Dong commune.

Nghia Dong commune is 20km from Tan Ky town center, used to be a disadvantaged commune because it was purely agricultural, growing rice with low productivity. But now the commune is the first locality in Tan Ky district to reach the new rural finish line. After more than 3 years of implementation, along with the determination of the entire political system, the consensus and support of the people, the face of Nghia Dong countryside has changed positively.

From attracting capital from the Central, provincial and district levels, together with the source of irrigation fee compensation and people's contributions, investments have been made to upgrade pumping stations in the area such as: Vuc Rao pumping station under the Mong village project and the 8/3 dam; Quoc Va dam. The irrigation system from the main pumping station with the level 1, 2 and 3 canal system has been solidified with concrete, basically meeting the requirements of production and people's lives, ensuring proactive irrigation. All 15 hamlets have planned and built cultural houses and hamlet sports areas that meet the standards set by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. 100% of hamlets have a cultural house area of 500m2 or more; 90% of hamlets have a sports area of 1,500m2 or more... Along with mobilizing internal resources, the commune also maximizes investment capital, calling on successful children who are working far from home to contribute to building their homeland. Thanks to the focus on promoting comprehensive economic development, people's lives have been increasingly improved, with average income increasing from 10 million VND/person/year (2011) to 23.4 million VND/person/year (2014); the political system has been maintained, and the rural landscape is improving day by day.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong congratulated and commended the achievements of the Party Committee and people of Nghia Dong, and hoped that the commune would promote the achievements, unite, unify, constantly improve and enhance quality to sustainably develop the achieved criteria, build the commune to be increasingly rich and strong, worthy of the tradition of the heroic homeland.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 4 individuals, and the District People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 2 collectives and 2 individuals with outstanding achievements in the movement of joining hands to build new rural areas.
