(Baonghean) - Nghia Thang is a mountainous commune 16 km west of Nghia Dan district center, with ethnic minorities accounting for 53.7% of the population. Total production value in 2014 reached 35,811 million VND, an increase of 7.76% compared to the resolution. The average annual growth rate reached 6 - 8% compared to the resolution. The economic structure shifted in a positive direction. Budget revenue in 2014 reached 4,391.5 million VND. Total investment capital in the area in 5 years was 25,351 million VND. Strongly developing industrial crops, concentrated raw material crops such as sugarcane on nearly 200 hectares, with an output of 12,000 tons. Livestock farming became the main production sector in agriculture and accounted for a fairly high proportion. During the term, the commune focused on investing in basic construction, creating major changes in the local infrastructure: renovating classrooms, upgrading 2 reservoirs, building nearly 4.5 km of concrete canals, patient houses, health stations, commune cultural houses, upgrading 500m of asphalt roads, 1 km of concrete roads in rural areas, implementing Program 135 in extremely disadvantaged hamlets and villages.

Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, the commune has built and implemented the planning according to the roadmap with initial results achieved, making an important contribution to the implementation of the goals, targets and political tasks set by the locality. The total capital mobilized to implement the New Rural Program reached nearly 13 billion VND, of which the people contributed 550 million VND, donated 10,000m2, 500m of solid fence, 250 timber trees and over 2,000 working days to dig, upgrade and clear nearly 12 km of rural roads.

Culture and society have made many advances. The quality of cultural, social, educational and training activities has been improved. During the term, social security policies and policies for people with meritorious services have been well resolved and implemented, hunger eradication and poverty reduction have been well implemented, the poverty rate has rapidly decreased from 22.55% to 11.87%. Employment for workers has been well implemented, focusing on labor export. People have been mobilized to carry out environmental sanitation well through the project of upgrading cultural villages. The village health network has performed well its assigned tasks and responsibilities; Medical stations are being invested in and upgraded towards meeting standards. National defense and security have been maintained, social order and safety have been ensured. In the 2015 - 2020 term, Nghia Thang Party Committee aims to continue promoting internal strength, taking advantage of external strength, promoting the great national unity bloc, focusing on accelerating economic growth, having a reasonable production structure, improving the capacity of commodity production, stabilizing and improving the material and spiritual life of the people, effectively implementing the national target program on new rural construction, maintaining political stability, ensuring social order and safety, building a strong and comprehensive Party, government and political system. To achieve the above goals, Nghia Thang Party Committee and people need to focus on implementing the following main tasks and solutions:

Developing agriculture and rural areas in association with building new rural areas; focusing on directing the effective exploitation of Hieu River alluvial land, actively transforming the structure of crops and seasons, forming clean vegetable production areas, maintaining the area and increasing the productivity of two rice crops... Striving to stabilize food output at 1,200 tons by 2020. Promoting livestock development in the direction of becoming a key industry in economic development, continuing to strongly develop livestock, poultry, and fish farming in ponds and lakes. Taking care of and maintaining the forested area according to the plan, ensuring forest coverage of 45%. Mobilizing people to plant scattered trees in small and fallow areas; achieving the criteria for building new rural areas by 2020.
