The local Public Safety Department announced that four consecutive shootings took place in one evening in the city of Kalamazoo, southwest Michigan, leaving six people dead and several seriously injured, according to Reuters.

Four people were shot dead at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Texas Town and two were killed at a Seelye Kia dealership in Kalamazoo, US media reported. The attacker reportedly drove around the city and its suburbs, shooting at random at innocent people. Two other shootings occurred at an intersection near the Cracker Barrel restaurant and a residential area in Richland Town, according to WOOD-TV.

Kalamazoo Deputy Police Chief Paul Matyas said this morning that after hours of searching, authorities arrested Jason B. Dalton, 45, the suspect in the incident.

Last December, attackers also opened fire at a social services center in San Bernardino, Southern California, USA, killing 14 people. The perpetrators were identified as Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik, a Pakistani citizen residing legally in the US on Farook's fiancee visa. The Islamic State (IS) claimed that Farook and Malik were both supporters of this organization.
