Now it is different, from plowing, harrowing, sowing to harvesting, there are machines to replace, production and harvesting time is greatly shortened, production efficiency is significantly improved. Farmers like me also have less hardship as a result.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Lien Commune - Mr. Phan Ba ​​Ngoc, said: In 2010, following the policy of land conversion, Thanh Lien has implemented all three aspects: land planning, irrigation traffic planning, resolving small and fragmented land and ensuring progress. Large fields, internal roads have been renovated, machinery has been put into production stages. Currently, the whole commune has 43 plows, transplanters, combine harvesters... The commune has also transferred 20 hectares of land (5%) to concentrated areas, for households to contract to build 29 farms, which have initially shown high efficiency.

Along with land conversion, the locality directed the conversion of crop and livestock structure, applying scientific and technological advances into production. The whole commune has restructured over 90% of the rice area with quality, the average yield reached 5.77 tons/ha, the output was 3,984.9 tons, an increase of 526.67 tons compared to 2010. Particularly for the area of ​​colored land, previously only corn and traditional potatoes were grown with low efficiency and only 2 crops were planted each year. Now, on the same land, many hamlets such as Lien Chau, Lien Tan, Lien Yen, Lien Hong, Lien Bang, Lien Duc have crops that are green all 4 seasons with high income such as watermelon (120 million VND/ha/crop); squash (160 million VND/ha/crop); potatoes; Green beans, vegetables, corn... Thanks to the change in crop structure, the crop season has increased to 3 crops: winter-spring, summer-autumn and intercropping winter, increasing the land turnover coefficient by 3 times per year. The commune has 8 economic models with an income of 300 million VND/year or more...

During the past term, the Party Committee and the government have led and directed the training of 7 on-site vocational classes for nearly 300 workers, and encouraged the development of secondary occupations. Up to now, the commune has been recognized as 2 craft villages: Lien Duc incense making village and Lien Huong rice noodle village. The commercial service system has developed quite rapidly, the number of business households has increased, the business types are increasingly diverse and highly effective. In the commune, there is 1 gas station; 325 large and small trading households, attracting more than 400 workers. The face of Thanh Lien countryside today has completely changed, thanks to the system of transportation, irrigation, electricity, medical stations, and cultural houses that have been built spaciously and synchronously with the motto "The State and the people work together". During the entire term, the commune has taken advantage of programs, projects, and state capital, mobilizing contributions from the people and Thanh Lien's children living far from home with a total of 49.5 billion VND, of which more than 25 billion VND was for the irrigation system; 8 billion VND for the construction of the electricity system; 7.7 billion VND for upgrading and renovating 6.6 km of rural roads and more than 92 km of intra-field roads; more than 3 billion VND for the construction of martyrs' cemeteries, schools, medical stations, cultural houses, sports fields, etc.

The spiritual and cultural life is of interest to the Party Committee and the government. 16/16 hamlets have cultural houses, soccer fields, badminton, volleyball, cultural, information and sports activities in the residential area are very exciting; 10/16 hamlets have achieved the title of cultural unit; agencies and schools have all been recognized as "Cultural Units", 81.5% have achieved the title of "Cultural Families"... The commune health station has been recognized as meeting phase 2 standards; Primary schools have met phase 1 standards. Notably, in recent years, Thanh Lien has become one of the communes with a high number of students passing the university and college entrance exams, with the least number of students being 80 in a year and the highest number being 115 in the year.

The achievements of the Party Committee and people of Thanh Lien commune in the 2010 - 2015 term have affirmed the great strides in a commune with a low starting point, purely agricultural, and the lives of the majority of people are still difficult. The achievements today demonstrate the leadership and direction of the Party Committee, the management and implementation of the government, and the participation of the entire political system... Thanks to solidarity, people's trust, and effective use of capital, the commune has done a good job of calling on businesses and children to join hands to build their homeland; which is the basis for the commune to successfully implement 17/19 new rural criteria (currently there are 2 criteria that have not been met: school facilities and transportation)... Thanh Lien has been assessed as one of the top units in the district's movements; the Party Committee is classified as exemplary Clean and Strong; the government, the Fatherland Front and other organizations are excellent. In the past 5 years, the people and officials of Thanh Lien commune were awarded 1 Excellent Emulation Flag and 3 Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee.
