Tien Ky is a remote commune of Tan Ky mountainous district. People's lives here still face many difficulties, especially traffic.

Tien Ky commune has about 13,000 households/5,550 people, nearly 70% of the population of the commune are Thai ethnic people, the rate of poor households accounts for over 60%. The income of the people here is mainly from agricultural production, in which the main crops are rice and sugarcane. The slow development of Tien Ky's economy and society, the low living standards of the people are the result of many reasons, including the weak infrastructure, especially the traffic roads.

It rained, the roads in Tien Ky became muddy

Apart from 1km of asphalt road, all the remaining roads in the commune are dirt roads, which have not been repaired or upgraded for a long time, so they are severely damaged, greatly limiting the traffic of the people, especially on rainy days. Along with that, heavy-duty trucks carrying raw sugarcane and iron ore run through, causing the roadbed to sink, creating countless potholes, even... "elephant holes".

Difficult traffic has increased the cost of transporting goods. Compared to other localities in the district, the prices of consumer goods in Tien Ky have increased quite high but are still scarce, while the prices of agricultural and forestry products of the people have decreased compared to the general level. There are many cases where people here are forced to lower prices due to the reason of increased transportation costs.

Faced with this situation, authorities at all levels need to pay attention and create conditions to help Tien Ky commune develop rural roads, to accelerate the pace of socio-economic development. In particular, Tien Ky commune People's Committee needs to promote dynamism and creativity in mobilizing resources to build infrastructure, gradually improving people's lives.
